2010 Courses
Romance at the Manor
A day devoted to the writing of romance. If you enjoy writing about romance and wouldlike to learn how to make your words draw readers in to your story then this is the place to come. Five authors all already successful in creating romantic stories will pass their experience and ideas on to you.
How do we create appealing romantic characters, how do we build up suspense and introduce conflict? How do we develop a saga, how do we end a love story well - all these topics will be addressed in the various workshops throughout the day. You can choose to book for a half or full day, and choose the workshop that most interests you.
Added to this we have 1 to 1 sessions for those who want some personal feedback on their writing. If you want to take advantage of this you will need to send in your Mss (maximum 5,000 words) at least 2 weeks before May 1st. Then on the day you will be given a session with one of our authors who will give you advice and feedabck on what you have written.
The authors will also have signed copies of their books available for purchase on the day.
A Novel Approach
Well done you! – you’ve written the novel and you’re justifiably pleased with yourself for putting in so much hard work. What do you do now? How do you know if it’s any good? Is it ready to submit to an agent or a publisher?
Or perhaps you haven’t put words to paper yet but you have what you think is a great idea for a novel. Bring it along to Creative Writing Courses where experienced writers, who are published novelists themselves, can guide you on how you could improve your novel.
Creating Character
This day course puts characters in creative writing under the spotlight. Learn from the masters of their craft. Discover how to build a character by examining all aspects of character such as how they speak, what they wear, their phsychology, their opinions, and how all of these tie in with their function within the weave of your story. If your characters are flat, your story will be too. Join us at Chilworth Manor and learn how to breath life in to your imagined people.
